Preliminary Examination:
Based on merit (through a competitive entrance Examination conducted through out Tamil Nadu) and Community Reservation system, 225 aspirants are admitted in Residential coaching (Full-time) and 100 aspirants in Non-Residential (Part-time) coaching. From the year 2011-2018 onwards ICR applications are issued to the aspirants through District Collectorate. The entrance examination is conducted in seventeen (17) centres in Tamil Nadu.
Now the entrance examination is conducted directly by All India Civil Services Coaching Centre, Chennai-28. When the entrance examination conduct for preliminary coaching, at that time notification will be released on our website and newspaper advertisement also published. Except admission other processing (application, hall ticket downloading, selection list, admit card) will be held online only.

The Institute guides the aspirants for nearly 6 months (from December to June) to take up the Preliminary examination.
Main Examination:
The aspirants who have cleared the UPSC Preliminary examination are admitted for Main Examination Coaching (225 aspirants). Intensive coaching for nearly two to four months is given to the aspirants. A monthly stipend of Rs. 3000/- is given to each candidate admitted for Main coaching, irrespective of the income ceiling to meet expenditure for accessing reading materials.

Personality Test:
The Institute conducts Model Personality Tests for the candidates who have cleared their Main Examination. Model Personality Test Sessions are given to the candidates by Senior IAS/IPS/IRS officers and subject experts. Apart from Model Personality Sessions, different issues are taken up for discussion with the help of the experts in the respective field. Accommodation is available at Tamilnadu House, New Delhi for Tamilnadu Aspirants. Travelling allowance of Rs.2000/- is provided to those candidates have attended the Model Personality Test at All India Civil Services Coaching Centre, Chennai-28
